InfoSum – Powering trust in the data economy

UK-based, 2016 founded, $8.0m raised, 20-30 employees, working with Telegraph Media Group

Where’s the good stuff?

Backed by strong early stage investors, InfoSum has raised $8m in Seed funding, with $5m coming in Q3 2017 from LocalGlobe and Mosaic Ventures. Founder, Nicholas Halstead, previously started DataSift, which was acquired by Meltwater in 2018 having raised over $70m.

What do they do?

Unlike traditional data platforms that require data to be either centralised or shared with a third-party to achieve analysis across multiple datasets, InfoSum’s Unified Data Platform (UDP) provides a secure and privacy-safe way to connect first and second-party data sources, without moving data.

This new privacy-first approach to data connectivity is driving actionable consumer insights and delivering more accurate targeting and attribution capabilities while protecting consumer privacy and business security.

Rossum – Creating a world without manual data entry

UK-based, 2017 founded, $4.4m raised, 20-30 employees, working with Cushman & Wakefield, EY, Siemens

Where’s the good stuff?

Originally founded in Prague, Rossum recently landed a $3m Seed round led by Seedcamp and LocalGlobe. They boast an incredibly impressive list of enterprise clients for a company of their age, with an office on both sides of the Atlantic.

What do they do?

Rossum’s software scans documents in a similar way to how a human would, regardless of style and formatting, and extracts the necessary data. With an estimated accuracy rate of around 95% they can save their clients vast amounts of both time and money. Their bread and butter is in invoice data capture, but they are trialling solutions on other kinds of documents.

Most data-extraction software separates the structure of a document from its content, but not Rossum. Their key innovation allows neural networks to capture data from semi-structured documents with unrivalled precision. They recently reported a 70% reduction in man-hours that Business Rates Managers require to process rates demand documents for Cushman & Wakefield, combined with a data extraction accuracy of 97.5%.

Swiss-based, 2010 founded, $25m raised, 50-100 employees, working with Accenture, Nestle, Zurich

Where’s the good stuff?

They raised a $15m Series A from Digital+ Partners back in 2018, a relatively new VC investing from a €350m fund. Winners at the 2019 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Challenge Award (Germany), Starmind were also recently named as a Gartner Cool Vendor in AI for Digital Dexterity.

What do they do?

On average, 80% of knowledge goes undocumented. Starmind is bringing an end to this, empowering every team member to tap into the collective human intelligence of their organisation. Through Starmind, people consume and contribute knowledge and expertise, making it available in real-time, anywhere, in corporate environments, networks, and communities.

By connecting to all existing data sources like corporate intranets, Slack, Microsoft Office, and many more, their cutting-edge AI leverages self-learning neural networks to learn through interactions – in real-time, accessible within a users browser or on their mobile. They already claim impressive figures with users in over 100 countries, 700m+ knowledge connections made, totalling over $1.4bn in productivity gains for their clients.

Saagie – Plug & play orchestrator for DataOps

France-based, 2013 founded, €10.1m raised, 50-100 employees, working with BNP Paribas, Caisse d’Epargne, Matmut

Where’s the good stuff?

They raised a Series A extension of €5m back in Q1 2018 from investors including CapHorn and BNP Paribas’ CVC. They’ve grown to a large employee base quickly, and recently launched their service out in North America.

What do they do?

Saagie helps large organisations to bridge the gap between traditional IT and data science teams, re-inventing their business with agility by leveraging Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. Their hybrid cloud orchestrator enables the management of an ever-changing ecosystem of data processes, technologies, and infrastructures, helping teams to deliver fast and continuous business value.

Saagie’s DataOps Orchestrator leverages automated data pipelines to address data-driven use cases such as predictive maintenance, sales forecasting, churn prediction, fraud detection, customer intelligence.
